Mr. Burgess is Chief Executive Officer of SAGD. Mr. Burgess has been employed with SAGD since December 1992. Mr. Burgess was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of SAGD in January 2007. Mr. Burgess has the responsibility and authority of the general supervision, management and control of the all day-to-day operations of the District. Mr. Burgess held the position of Chief Operations Officer for SAGD from November 1999 until December 2006. Mr. Burgess was responsible for planning, designing, and organizing the installation of new mains and services, coordination and supervision of system maintenance and operation as well as the supply, transmission, and distribution of natural gas.Prior to serving as the Chief Operations Officer, he held the position of Engineer’s Aide. Mr. Burgess performed administrative and technical support work functions associated with the District’s engineering department and natural gas operations. Mr. Burgess holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology.Mr. Burgess is Co-General Manager of LA Gas District. LA Gas District was formed as a joint action gas supply agency for the purpose of acquiring secure, reliable, competitively priced and adequate long-term supplies of gas for ultimate delivery to residential, commercial, institutional and industrial consumers in and around the areas served South Alabama Gas District for delivery to their customers and to other public entities.Mr. Burgess serves on the Alabama Natural Gas Association Advisory Committee, served as a Director for Alabama Natural Gas Association,and served as the President (2008-2009) of the Alabama Natural Gas Association.Mr. Burgess served as a Director of the American Public Gas Association and served as a Director for American Public Gas Association’s Insurance Group. Mr.Burgess is a board member of the Monroeville Monroe County Economic Development Authority and served as Chairman (2015-2017) of the Monroeville Monroe County Economic Development Authority. Mr. Burgess served as a Director for Coastal Gateway Regional Economic Development Alliance. Mr. Burgess serves as the vice president of the Monroeville Main Street Board of Directors. Mr. Burgess serves on the Conecuh County Industrial Development Board. Mr. Burgess is the Chairman of the Mexia Baptist Church Stewardship Committee.
Mr. Terry Nichols has been with South Alabama Gas for more than thirty years. In this time he has worked many different positions from service technician to Division Superintendent. Currently, Mr. Nichols is our District Superintendent. Mr.Nichols is a licensed Master Gas Fitter. Mr. Nichols is also an active member of the Bermuda Volunteer Fire Department and has been for the last thirty years. Mr. Nichols has been a member of the Repton Masonic Lodge #575 for over twenty-five years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Hamden Ridge Water Authority. Beyond his work life, Mr.Nichols is the father of three and grandfather of seven.
Mr. Fred Kelley has been with South Alabama Gas District for over thirty years. Mr. Kelley is a Master Gas Fitter in the State of Alabama and a Master Qualifier in the State of Florida. He currently serves as the Marketing and Safety Director. Mr. Kelley attended Coastal Alabama Community College and the University of Alabama. He is currently continuing his education and is a senior majoring in Psychology at the University of South Alabama. Besides helping families get hooked up to natural gas, Mr. Kelley also serves as the Chaplain of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Monroeville Police Department.
Mrs. Nikki Johnson has been working with South Alabama Gas since 2001. Mrs. Johnson is the Comptroller for the gas district and oversees the daily operations of accounting, auditing, financial reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable services for the company. Mrs. Johnson is a graduate of Auburn University Montgomery with a Business Administration degree.
Mrs. Johnette Whitmire has been with South Alabama Gas since 2012 where she started as an engineering aide/computer specialist. She was promoted to Project Manager in 2018. Mrs. Whitmire is a graduate of the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate. Mrs. Whitmire is responsible for planning, designing, and organizing the installation of new mains and services. Mrs. Whitmire also maintains the districts geographical information system containing natural gas facilities, base-maps, road system, municipal boundaries, and other utilities. Mrs. Whitmire is also responsible for compliance of PHMSA and DOT regulations.
